Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Equipment Operation:
    • Operate winches to lift, lower, or position loads according to instructions or signals.
    • Adjust load weights and winch speeds as needed for specific tasks.
    • Monitor equipment performance during operation.
  2. Load Handling:
    • Secure loads with rigging, slings, chains, or cables.
    • Coordinate with riggers, crane operators, or signal personnel.
    • Ensure proper load balance and alignment to prevent accidents or damage.
  3. Maintenance and Inspection:
    • Inspect winch systems and components regularly for wear, defects, or safety hazards.
    • Perform routine maintenance such as lubricating moving parts and checking cable conditions.
    • Report or repair any malfunctions or equipment damage.
  4. Safety Compliance:
    • Follow all safety protocols and lifting procedures.
    • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Be alert to surroundings and potential hazards, especially in confined or elevated spaces.
  5. Communication and Coordination:
    • Respond to verbal instructions, hand signals, or radio communication.
    • Work closely with site supervisors, riggers, or other team members.
    • Communicate any issues or delays in operations.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain records of operations, inspections, and maintenance activities.
    • Log operating hours and report usage data as required.
    • Follow job-specific documentation or checklist requirements.
