Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Inspection and Diagnosis:
    • Inspect hydraulic systems for wear, leaks, or malfunctions.
    • Use diagnostic tools to identify issues in pumps, motors, valves, hoses, and cylinders.
    • Troubleshoot system failures and determine repair needs accurately.
  2. Repair and Maintenance:
    • Dismantle and rebuild hydraulic components such as cylinders, pumps, and valves.
    • Replace damaged hoses, seals, fittings, and filters.
    • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to extend equipment life and prevent breakdowns.
  3. Installation and Testing:
    • Install new hydraulic systems or components according to technical drawings or manuals.
    • Fill systems with fluids, bleed air from lines, and ensure proper pressure levels.
    • Test repaired systems for proper operation and safety compliance.
  4. Technical Expertise and Tools:
    • Read and interpret hydraulic schematics and blueprints.
    • Use hand tools, power tools, pressure gauges, flow meters, and other specialized equipment.
    • Stay updated with new hydraulic technologies and repair techniques.
  5. Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow safety standards related to high-pressure systems and hazardous fluids.
    • Use proper PPE and follow lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance.
    • Comply with company and industry-specific safety regulations.
  6. Record Keeping and Communication:
    • Maintain detailed records of repairs, parts used, and service dates.
    • Communicate clearly with supervisors, operators, and other mechanics.
    • Recommend improvements or upgrades to hydraulic systems when needed.
