Fiberglass Technician

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Fabrication and Molding:
   • Cut, lay, and laminate fiberglass materials according to specifications.
   • Operate tools and equipment to form or mold fiberglass components.
   • Apply resin and other bonding agents for structural integrity.
2. Repair and Maintenance:
   • Inspect fiberglass components for cracks, defects, or wear.
   • Perform repairs using patching, sanding, and recoating techniques.
   • Ensure repaired items meet quality and safety standards.
3. Surface Preparation and Finishing:
   • Sand, grind, and polish surfaces for a smooth finish.
   • Mix and apply gel coats or paints as needed.
   • Remove air bubbles and ensure an even surface during curing.
4. Tool and Material Handling:
   • Safely use hand and power tools like grinders, rollers, and cutters.
   • Handle chemicals such as resins and hardeners with proper PPE and procedures.
   • Maintain tools and work area cleanliness.
5. Technical Documentation:
   • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, or work orders.
   • Maintain records of materials used and work completed.
   • Report any material shortages or design issues to supervisors.
6. Health and Safety Compliance:
   • Follow all safety protocols related to chemical handling and ventilation.
   • Wear appropriate protective gear (gloves, masks, goggles).
   • Ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.
