Boom truck operator

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Boom Truck Operation:
   • Drive the boom truck to and from job sites following all road safety regulations.
   • Operate the hydraulic boom to lift, move, and position loads as directed.
   • Use remote controls or onboard systems to handle the boom safely and accurately.
2. Load Handling:
   • Inspect, secure, and balance loads using rigging equipment like slings, chains, or hooks.
   • Follow lifting plans and boom load charts to avoid overloading or unsafe lifting angles.
   • Ensure load stability during both transport and crane operation.
3. Equipment Inspection and Maintenance:
   • Conduct daily pre- and post-operation checks on the boom, truck, and hydraulic systems.
   • Maintain fluid levels, check for leaks, and inspect mechanical components.
   • Report defects or damage and coordinate maintenance as required.
4. Safety and Compliance:
   • Follow OSHA, site-specific, and company safety protocols.
   • Set up stabilizers or outriggers properly before operating the boom.
   • Wear and enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
5. Site Coordination and Communication:
   • Work closely with site supervisors, riggers, and other crew to ensure safe and accurate load placement.
   • Respond to verbal instructions, hand signals, or radio communication.
   • Adapt to changing site conditions or job requirements.
6. Documentation and Record-Keeping:
   • Complete vehicle logs, maintenance checklists, and lifting operation reports.
   • Maintain accurate records of hours worked, materials moved, and inspections done.
   • Report incidents or unsafe conditions to the supervisor promptly.
